It is that time of year again - Valentine's Day.
Every lovebird's dream come true and every single lady's worst nightmare. Although I am riding the single train this year, I'm still looking forward to a day that is completely devoted to love. I mean think about it, there's really nothing better than love. It's an incredible connection you have with someone and you just swoon over each other. (I mean, who doesn't want to be swooned-over!) I will say that I'm not that naive, and I do know that love comes with it's road bumps. There will be fights and there will most certainly be tears, but in the end, you'll end up closer than you ever were (usually).
As corny as this sounds, I see ropes as a symbol of relationships. When the rope breaks or tears, you have to tie it in a knot to get it back together, and the result of the knot, is that the ends of the rope become closer. Now that I've gone on my little relationship tangent, let's get back to love.
I simply adore it. If only there was a boy out there who I found remotely attractive (personality and looks), I might just have a valentine. It's just that college mentality I guess. The first year boys want nothing to do with relationships, while I'm the relationship kind of girl. And the older boys who are dateable usually have girlfriends already, surprise, surprise. So I guess I'm just going to have to wait it out for a wall street-working man to come my way.
But really, who needs a man anyway. I know that I am perfectly capable of living a perfectly happy life (for the time being) and being able to love myself just as much as any other guy would love me. That's what I've learned thus far - and it's the cold hard truth ladies: You've got to love yourself before you can let a guy love you. Because, if he's not the one, then one day he might be gone and you will still be with yourself and you'll need to shower yourself with the love you deserve.
Now, I'm not saying all of this to be a downer, it's just one of those things I've learned the hard way that I can't even stress enough.
Love yourself before you love anyone else
With that being said, enjoy the love in the air and let it seep into you through osmosis if you need it.
Or just screw it and pop open a bottle of vino, watch some Legally Blonde, and eat. And if you're feeling ambitious, wear a little something red. And please, remember - to all those sassy and single ladies - there's a guy out there for you, and he's going to be better than you've ever expected.
xoxo
taadams
darlin, i'll be popping open some vino, watching Legally Blonde and eating some Crave cupcakes and sososo wishing you were here! If it weren't all about chocolate and the color pink, I'd boycott but I love chocolate and pink too much! xoxo
